Nursing assistants fill an essential role in the hospital setting. From supporting medical staff to ensuring patients take their medication, the hospital can't function without a strong team of nurse assistants. With the Baxter Health Nurse Assistant Residency Program, you'll build a strong foundation with help from experienced and trusted nurses and subject matter experts. You'll be able to practice the ins and outs of being a Nurse Assistant while working toward your certification.

The Baxter Health NA Residency Program is perfect for Nursing Assistants looking for paid professional development. You'll get hands-on training in a hospital setting while learning the role of the Nursing Assistant. Residents will have the opportunity to work in different units for a more rounded training.

The Nursing Assistant Residency Program is a 4-week full-time paid position for specific units based on the applicant's professional interest and unit match.

Step 1 - Clinical Skills & Patient Care

Joining Baxter Health's Nursing Assistant Residency Program will provide you with hands-on-learning workshops that will evaluate different learning styles for each individual Nursing Assistant Resident. Professional development, hands-on learning and hands-on skill practice in the Gayle and Ed Goodman SIM Center are all implemented to provide the most comprehensive curriculum possible.

Step 2 - Communication and Self-Awareness

Meeting the communication needs of our patients and patient family members as well as developing crucial self-awareness are a major priority for the Nursing Assistant Resident. All residents will complete a Connecting Through Conversation and an Understanding Your Learning Style course.

Step 3 - Preceptorship

Each Nursing Assistant is assigned a one-on-one preceptor to assist them with the transition into the acute care setting. Asking questions during your preceptorship will be one of your biggest learning opportunities.

The Nursing Assistant Residency Program End of Immersion Capstone marks the end of the program. This simulated learning experience ties all the skills learned into one action-filled experience.
