First Step is a medical detox program for individuals struggling with the effects of alcohol addiction and the misuse of pain medication. Medical detox is the first crucial stage in addiction recovery. It involves supervised, medically monitored withdrawal from substances like alcohol or pain medications to help manage withdrawal symptoms safely and effectively.

Admission Process

To ensure the safety and well-being of each patient, First Step follows a thorough admission process. Here’s what you can expect:

  1. Screening: Our team screens potential patients Monday through Friday (please note, no walk-ins). This process helps us assess your needs and determine if our detox program is appropriate for you.

  2. Insurance Verification: Once your screening is complete, we will notify your insurance provider to confirm coverage for the detox program.

  3. Aftercare Plan: After your initial assessment, we’ll develop a personalized aftercare plan to support your recovery journey. This plan may include psychiatrist visits, mindfulness training, and other therapeutic services tailored to your needs.

  4. Admission to the Detox Facility: After completing the necessary steps, you will be admitted to our hospital where First Step offers its detox services.

Our Team is Ready to Help

Baxter Health has a qualified treatment team including a Medical Director, Hospitalists, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, and nursing staff. We welcome referrals from your primary care physician or allow patients to self-refer for our services.

The ultimate goal of our First Step detox program is to provide a safe, medically supervised detox experience. Typically, patients stay with us for three nights in an acute care hospital where they receive 24/7 care from our medical team. This period marks the first step of your recovery journey, helping you manage withdrawal symptoms and prepare for the next steps in treatment.
