TCAR Procedure

At Baxter Health, we offer a less invasive technique to treat carotid artery disease and help prevent strokes. TCAR (TransCarotid Artery Revascularization) is a patient-friendly, endovascular procedure that incorporates the neuroprotection principles of carotid endarterectomy (CEA). It utilizes the ENROUTE Transcarotid Neuroprotection System to temporarily reverse blood flow away from the brain, collecting any potential debris in the device filter, before returning the blood to a vessel in the leg. With reverse flow neuroprotection established, the ENROUTE Transcarotid Stent is then implanted in the lesion for a long-term plaque stabilization and stroke prevention.

Our vascular surgery team, Dr. Heath Broussard, Dr. Kent Nachtigal, and Dr. Nestor Arita, specialize in treating carotid artery disease. For more information or to schedule an appointment, please call Baxter Health Heart and Vascular Clinic at 870-508-3200.
