Tricare Insurance recently released a statement to their insured patients that they have a new formulary for blood glucose monitors, the FreeStyle Meter. This change has affected a large number of patients in Mountain Home and surrounding areas.
Shortly after the Tricare information was released, the staff at the Reppell Diabetes Learning Center (RDLC) began receiving calls and walk-in patients who wished to find out more about the FreeStyle Meter. Questions were also raised on where to get the meter so that they could continue to check their blood sugar and remain healthy. RDLC provided demonstrations with the new meter and gave each patient a voucher for a free meter, which can be picked up at local pharmacies.
As healthcare changes and insurance companies make adjustments, the RDLC will continue to support diabetes patients at the local level. This ensures there will be no interruption in patient care. For more information, call the RDLC at (870) 508-1765 or email Jodi Bodenhamer, RN, CDE, RDLC Coordinator, at jbodenhamer@baxterregional.org. Or stop by the RDLC, located across Hospital Drive from the BRMC Main Entrance, Monday - Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
