PCSH to feature kale recipes in monthly exchange

Do you struggle with how to cook healthy nutritious meals? Would you like to learn tips to make healthy eating a part of your normal routine? If so, join the Healthy Recipe Exchange Group at the Peitz Cancer Support House. The January meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, January 13, 2015, at 10 a.m. Stop by the PCSH for this free, fun, healthy event!
The focus for January is kale, with ten free recipes available for participants. These kale recipes will ensure you get plenty of calcium to keep your bones in good shape and isothiocyanates which have strong anti-cancer effects. Plus, you will find plenty of protein and fiber from legumes and whole grains!
- Winter Squash and Red Lentil Stew
- Penne with Kale, Tomatoes, and Olives
- Kale and Rice Chowder
- Portuguese Kale and Potato Soup
- Penne with Kale, Tomatoes, and Olives
- Cannellini Beans with Kale
- Sesame Kale
- Braised Kale
- Kale and Rice Chowder
- Garlic Hash Browns with Kale
- Steamed Kale
The Healthy Eating Recipe Exchange Group is open to all men and women that are interested in eating healthy foods. Studies show that eating a diet of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and beans combined with exercise can help you be healthier. The group meetings provide for recipe exchange and discussion to encourage and promote healthy eating habits. The Healthy Eating Recipe Exchange Group meets on the second Tuesday of each month from 10-11 a.m. at the Peitz Cancer Support House, located on the BRMC campus, just across Hospital Drive from the Cline Emergency Room entrance.
