BRMC to Host Free Personal Safety and Self-Defense Class

Absolutely refuse to be a victim! Baxter Regional Medical Center is hosting Fight Back: Personal Safety and Self-Defense Class, an instructional, non-contact class and an opportunity to learn techniques and tips in a fun and safe atmosphere. You do not need to be in top physical condition or dressed in exercise attire to attend.

In this one-hour class, you will learn:

  • Practical Self-Defense - practical and effective self-defense techniques and tips
  • Increased Awareness - how to recognize potential danger and what to do in dangerous situations
  • Effective Escape Techniques - how to react and get away quickly
  • Crime Prevention - how to minimize the chance you will be attacked
  • The three “As” that will keep you safe!

The class is led by Paul Mruk, a retired Memphis Police Captain who has served in the Marine Corp and Air National Guard. A BRMC Volunteer for the past 12 years, Paul was a 2010 inductee into the Arkansas Senior Hall of Fame.

Fight Back will be offered Thursday, September 14 at 7:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. and Friday, September 15 at 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. in the BRMC Lagerborg Dining Room. Sponsored by Baxter Regional Medical Center, BRMC Employee Health & Wellness and the Mruk Family Education Center on Aging, the class is free and open to the public, but reservations are required.
