See What's New at the Peitz Cancer Support House

There are some exciting new opportunities available at the Peitz Cancer Support House in 2018! No one should go through the cancer journey alone. You and your loved ones are welcome to attend any and all gatherings at the PCSH.

Journey Through Cancer

Journey Through Cancer group gatherings meet on the second Tuesday of every month. Each cancer diagnosis begins a unique experience, and the path through treatment is a unique journey. If you or someone you love is coping with cancer, you can find comfort and strength through meeting with others at the Peitz Cancer Support House.

The group provide beneficial information for anyone going through the cancer journey. You can discuss and share your feelings and experiences with others who are facing or have faced common challenges. You will learn from others how they coped and worked through similar experiences in their treatment process.

The group will meet Tuesday, January 9 with several meeting times available – at 9 a.m., 1 p.m., or 3 p.m., and the discussion will be about maintaining health and healthy snacks.

Living with Advanced Cancer

Living with Advanced Cancer group gatherings provide support and education to those who are dealing with advanced cancer. It is important to find support and have the opportunity to share your feelings and concerns with others who are having similar experiences. This group meets monthly, on the second Thursday at 11 a.m.

Coffee & Conversations with Family and Friends

Caring for a loved one is an act of love, and it takes many skills and a great deal of energy. Time spent with people who share information and the same experiences gives you a sense that you are not alone, and you gain a special community of friends who understands the importance of the job you do.

The Coffee & Conversations with Family and Friends gathering at the Peitz Cancer Support House provides a place for family members and friends of patients to learn more about treatments, side effects and coping with a long term illness. The group meets monthly, on the second Wednesday at 9 a.m. On Wednesday, January 10 at 9 a.m., they will discuss how individuals can maintain the health of themselves and their loved one while going through the cancer journey.

Free Tobacco Cessation Classes

A new year is a great time to quit using tobacco. Do you know how much money you could save if you stopped smoking in 2018? The average cost of a one pack a day smoker for one year is $2,000.

So why not quit? BRMC can help, free of charge! The Peitz Cancer Support House of BRMC offers free QuitSmart Tobacco Cessation classes to anyone in our community. Each participant receives two weeks of nicotine patches, an artificial cigarette, and a relaxation CD. The program is facilitated by a certified registered nurse, and each course meets three times monthly.
