Let 2019 be your year for yoga with free classes courtesy of the Peitz Cancer Support House of Baxter Regional Medical Center. A new Thursday evening class has been added to the weekly schedule.
Beginner’s Yoga is held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. A beginner’s class is active, with emphasis on breathing, flexibility and balance. Beginner positions include standing, seated and floor poses in the Iyengar style.
Therapeutic Chair Yoga is a one-hour class held on Mondays and Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. Most poses are accomplished by sitting in a chair or holding on to a chair when standing.
All classes are open to adults and older teens, and no familiarity with yoga is necessary. Some supplies are provided. Classes are held at the Peitz Cancer Support House, located across Hospital Drive from the BRMC Cline Emergency Center Entrance, and taught by Becca Smith, a certified yoga teacher with 20 years’ experience.
