Baxter Regional Welcomes New Physicians

Baxter Regional Medical Center proudly welcomed two new physicians to our medical staff this month. Almas Chughtai, MD, has joined First In Service Hospitalists, the group of physicians responsible for providing care to admitted patients throughout their stay at Baxter Regional. Daniel Zapata, MD, has joined the practice of Dr. Daniel Decker and nurse practitioners Katie Hutchens and Daniel Pevril at Baxter Regional Urology Clinic.
Dr. Chughtai obtained a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas, before attending medical school at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock. She completed a research fellowship and internal medicine residency at UAMS-Northwest in Fayetteville, where she served as Chief Resident. Dr. Chughtai is a member of the American College of Physicians and the American Medical Association.
Dr. Zapata attended medical school at Fundación Universitaria de Ciencias de la Salud in Bogotá, Colombia. After working in rural medicine and emergency medicine in Colombia, Dr. Zapata became a research fellow at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina. He then completed a general surgery internship and urology residency at University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis.
Dr. Zapata has a primary focus in minimally invasive procedures for benign prostatic hyperplasia, prostate cancer and stone disease as well as surgical treatment for overactive bladder and incontinence for men and women.
