Baxter Regional Acquires Building and Lot on Hospital Campus

Baxter Regional Medical Center announced today that the previous Hiram Shaddox Geriatric Health and Rehab building has been purchased from Health Care Solutions, LLC. The 3.2 acre lot has been in a state of disrepair since heavy winds and tornados left the building with a heavily damaged roof and a collapsed wall in 2018. Demolition of the building is to begin immediately.

“Plans to obtain this plot have been in development for quite some time,” said Barney Larry, Baxter Regional VP/Business Development and Executive Director, Baxter Regional Hospital Foundation. “We are excited to begin demolition and to begin planning for even more services to become available to our community.”

“We don’t have any plans set in stone, but whatever is decided on will be based on meeting the needs of the community,” said Ron Peterson, President & CEO of Baxter Regional. “For the time being, we will be focused on cleaning up the lot to make everyone’s experience at Baxter Regional more pleasant.”
