Baxter Health Welcomes John Chinchen, MD, to the Medical Staff

Baxter Health is pleased to welcome John Chinchen, MD, to the medical staff. Dr. Chinchen brings a wealth of experience and expertise in emergency medicine, making him a valuable asset to Baxter Emergency Group, the providers serving in the Baxter Health Cline Emergency Center.

Dr. Chinchen recently served as an emergency medicine resident physician at Ascension St. John Emergency Department in Detroit, Michigan, before relocating to Mountain Home. This facility is one of the busiest single-site Level 1 trauma centers in the Midwest, handling more overall and penetrating trauma cases than any other hospital in Michigan. Additionally, Dr. Chinchen served as a tactical emergency physician for the Wayne County SWAT Team. In this role, he responded to active shooters, barricaded gunmen, and high-risk search warrants.

Dr. Chinchen holds a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience from the University of Michigan and a Doctor of Medicine degree from Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine in Kalamazoo.

Outside of caring for his patients, Dr. Chinchen has an impressive list of interests and accolades. He enjoys tactical and military medicine, ultramarathons, triathlons, competition shooting, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, backpacking, hunting, camping, and ice hockey. To name just a few of his accomplishments outside of medicine, he is a Guinness World Record holder for running the fastest mile while wearing a 60-pound rucksack, an Ironman triathlon finisher, 50-mile trail ultramarathon finisher, and a two-time United States Practical Shooting Association Michigan State Champion.

“We are very happy to welcome Dr. Chinchen to the Baxter Health family,” said Ron Peterson, President/CEO of Baxter Health. “With his extensive background in emergency medicine and his dedication to providing high-quality care, we are very confident that he will be a wonderful addition to the Baxter Emergency Group.”
