Each year, Baxter Regional Medical Center hosts a banquet to thank the BRMC Auxiliary for their many hours of dedication and commitment to the hospital and our community. The most recent 2016 BRMC Auxiliary Banquet held on Tuesday, April 26, was no exception.
In yet another remarkable display of commitment to BRMC, the Auxiliary announced they were pledging a gift of $150,000 to support the renovation of the Baxter Regional Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation Unit. With this gift from the Auxiliary and many other donors to this campaign, the unit will be upgraded and expanded to accommodate the growing number of patients needing its services.
According to Dawn Tullis, RN, Baxter Regional Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation Unit Coordinator, this service line at BRMC offers assistance for those going through a wide range of cardiac and chronic pulmonary conditions.
From education to exercise, this unit has been able to take patients who are unable to walk even a short distance at the start of their treatment to walking through the doors of the unit completely unassisted. All workouts are supervised and monitored by trained nurses and technicians to ensure patients are safe and receive immediate medical care if an emergency arises.
The renovations to the unit are scheduled to begin on Monday, May 2.
